Procedure
Step One
Plan to become acquainted with Atherton Place, its services and its residents. Several tours may be necessary, because the building is big, and the service package is extensive. Each tour provides a greater opportunity to feel informed and comfortable with Atherton Place. To allow time for special questions, plan to stay for lunch during one of your visits. One of the Atherton Place leasing assistants can make a reservation for lunch at your convenience.
Step Two
Complete the pre-application form located in the Atherton Place sales package. Please include the $1,000 application fee. If there is a waiting list, you will be notified as soon as the type of apartment you have specified becomes available, and your health interview will be scheduled.
Important: When applying to Atherton Place, plan to have a family member or close personal friend act as a sponsor. The sponsor will also sign your lease agreement and serve as a contact when needed.
Important: Each applicant must participate in a health interview, which will be scheduled Monday through Friday. This information cannot be supplied by a family member or physician.
Step Three
The health interview is a personal meeting between you (the applicant) and the Atherton Place Health Resources Manager. It consists of questions concerning your medical history and your current health needs. Once the pre-application is submitted, the Health Resources Manager will call you to set up a convenient time to meet. If there is a waiting list, your health interview will be scheduled when your application is within three months of the apartment being available.
Step Four
During the health interview, the Health Resources Manager will provide you with a physician’s statement and a formal application. The physician’s statement outlines the health criteria and requires a physician’s signature and recommendation concerning which services would be appropriate. The formal application asks other pertinent information which enables the Atherton Place staff to serve you better.
Step Five
When all of these procedures are completed, the approval committee will meet to review your application. When accepted, you will be notified within one week. If you need more services than Atherton Place has to offer, the Atherton Place staff will be glad to assist you in locating other resources.
